I meant to put this one up yesterday. <3

Yeee :D I like them. I think I might go catch their show next weekend.

Baby, you got me begging you for mercy. </////3

Sups chill. :)

So, this is a special moment for me because….

EARGASM.

I’ve never gotten to say that before. About anything. And now I have.

Short but enough….woa, innuendo. Gahhh. Screw it.

I saw you there, so unaware, those hummingbirds all in your hair.

I found a new band.

It’s an acquired taste. ;)

Quilt - Penobska Oakwalk

Listening to these Brooklyn-via-Boston psych-folkers is enigmatic. First, they sound as though they write and record their music on some far-out teepee commune in New Mexico in 1971 while wearing navajo print drug rugs and smudging sage around the campfire.  The fact that they’re likely intentionally working to evoke that exact imagery is a testament to how fucking good their songwriting skills are.  I’m a huge fan.

Get into this mystique yourself with this single from their new double-A side with the equally excellent “Cowboys in the Void.”  A little bird tells me that these songs are actually part of a larger album in the works. I expect their astral projections only increase from here.  Join the trip now, y’all.

I’d like to live with them.

Sophie Madeleine - The Rhythm You Started

Now a days, careers are launched via the internet: Myspace and Youtube are the stages. It seems that amazing artists are getting record deals every day. That’s why I find it so incomprehensible that Sophie Madeleine, with a couple of videos topping 200,000 views, is still unsigned.

Sophie Madeleine has an indie folk sound and I can’t resist her lovely voice with her un-ironic accompanying ukulele. This song has more of a pop-influence than the other sounds on her self-produced albums, Love. Life. Ukuele and The Rhythm You Started.

Her second album, released in December, is where she seems to come into her own as a “twee pop” artist, relying less on her ukulele and incorporating other instruments smoothly. Her harmonies are perfection. She knows when clapping is a musical asset and not just cute.

While I can see the influence of Feist and Sufjan Stevens - I think she has a sound her own. I can’t see what she comes up with next.

I also recommend: Goody Goody (cover) and You Are My Favourite

Bubbly & cute :)
